Amy Herman grew up in a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri and is a
graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a degree in Organizational
Communication. She moved to San Diego in 1983 and has been a resident of Carmel
Valley for the past 15 years. Amy and her husband Gregg have co-owned and
operated Herman Design and Construction Company since 1985.
As a long time volunteer in the local school districts, Mrs. Herman's
positions include past Vice President of Parent Volunteers at Canyon Crest
Academy Foundation, Co-Chair of SDUHDS Legislative Action Network, SDUHSD
Middle School Task Force member, Parliamentarian and Vice President of
Legislation for the Carmel Valley Middle School PTSA, Founding Board member of
the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation, TPHS Dollars for Scholars Secretary,
and Former President and Secretary of Carmel Del Mar PTA. Ms.
Herman began her first term as a school board member on December, 2010.
Amy and husband, Gregg have two children who attended Carmel Valley Middle
School and graduated from district schools: Beth- TPHS 2006, Matthew - CCA
2009. Beth recently graduated from UC Davis, and Matthew is student at Cal Poly
San Luis Obispo.
