Students are allowed to add/drop courses per District Policy 5121/AR-1 during the following periods and with the following terms:
1. Add a Course
SDUHSD Board Policy sets a two-week limit at the beginning of each semester for the quarter schools to add a course to replace a dropped course. After the first day of school, an administrator conference will be required for any change and the student will be required to make up missed work. To add a course, the change must: 1) Improve the integrity of the schedule for graduation or college eligibility, 2) Be an elective course, with space available, and be during the same period as the dropped course.
2. Drop/Withdraw from a Course
SDUHSD Board Policy allows a student to drop a course with NO PENALTY on their transcript or records during the first two weeks of the quarter. Deadlines are:
First Quarter Drop Deadline - September 14, 2009
Second Quarter Drop Deadline - November 19, 2009
Third Quarter Drop Deadline - February 18, 2010
Fourth Quarter Drop Deadline - April 30, 2010
SDUHSD Board Policy allows a student to withdraw from a course after the drop deadline, but a student will receive a W or Withdraw indicator on their transcript. This W does not factor into GPA calculation. Withdrawal must take place BEFORE the last 15 days of the quarter. Deadlines are:
Quarter 1 Withdrawal Deadline - After September 15 and BEFORE October 14, 2009
Quarter 2 Withdrawal Deadline - After November 20 and BEFORE January 7, 2010
Quarter 3 Withdrawal Deadline - After February 19 and BEFORE March 19, 2010
Quarter 4 Withdrawal Deadline - After May 3 and BEFORE May 27, 2010
SDUHSD Board Policy holds that NO CLASS may be dropped within the last 15 days of the quarter. Deadlines are:
Quarter 1 - October 15, 2009
Quarter 2 - December 8, 2010
Quarter 3 - March 22, 2010
Quarter 4 - May 28, 2010
