Student Physicals

It will be the responsibility of each athlete to obtain his/her physical from their own doctor. Fall athletes will be most impacted by this. Please make your appointments now for the 2011-2012 school year. Remember that all new physicals need to be done AFTER June 1st, 2011 to be valid for the 2011-2012 school year. The CCA athletic packet can be downloaded off the athletic website.

Athletic Packet Deadlines - Spring Sports
The Spring Sports Athletic Packet deadline is Wednesday, February 1st, at 3:30 p.m. Packets are available online or for pick-up in the Athletic Office. They should be submitted to the Athletic Secretary located in the Athletic Dept. of the Assistant Principals' office. The Assistant Principals' office is situated on the upper level across from the Media Center. If you have any questions, please call Ext. 4004 at the school site.

Spring Sports Clearance Cards
Students may pick up Spring Sports clearance cards beginning Monday, February 13, through Thursday, February 16, during lunch and after school only. On Monday and Tuesday a table will be set up outside the Media Center during lunch and after school for clearance card distribution. On Wednesday and Thursday cards may be picked up inside the Athletics office across from the Media Center in the APs' Office.

Spring Sports Tryouts

Students must have clearance cards to try out.

Tennis: Tryouts begin Tues., 2/21 at 3:15 pm, 2/22 at 3:15 pm, 2/23 at 3:15 pm (preliminary cuts at 5:15 pm), 2/27 at 3:15 pm, 2/28 at 3:15 pm, 2/29 at 3:15 pm. 3/1 is first practice date at 3:15 pm with final cuts at 5:15 pm.

Softball: Tues., 2/21 & Wed., 2/22 from 3:15 - 5:00 pm

Boys Lacrosse: Begin on Tues., 2/21 (3:15 pm to 5:30 pm), 2/22 (3:15 pm to 5:30 pm), & end on Thurs., 2/23 (3:15 - 5:30 pm)

Girls Lacrosse: Tryouts begin Sat., 2/18 from 9:00 - 11:00 am & continue on 2/20 & 2/21 from 3:45 - 5:45 pm

Track & Field: (No tryouts) First practice is Sat., 2/18 from 10:00 am - Noon.

Volleyball: Tryouts are Sat., 2/18 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.

Baseball: Tryouts begin Sat., 2/18 from 9 am - Noon, Mon., 2/20 from 9 am - Noon, Tues., 2/21 from 3:15 - 5:00 pm.

Golf: Tryouts are held at Surf & Turf Driving Range on Sat., 2/18, at 8:00 a.m. Golfers will be required to hit 4 balls with the following clubs: Driver, 3 Iron, 5 Iron, 8 Iron and Wedge. The top 16 will make the initial cut. 2 Day Tryouts follow and are held at Lomas Santa Fe Golf Course on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23. The top 10 golfers will make the team.

Swimming: (No tryouts) Swimmers and Divers meet Feb. 7 at lunch time in the gym. The first day of swim/dive practice starts Feb. 21 from 5:30 – 7:00 am at Cathedral Catholic High School.

Mandatory Player / Parent Meetings

All San Dieguito Union High School District student-athletes and their parents/guardians are required by the district to attend the preseason orientation meeting. The student athlete will not be able to participate in their first contest until the student athlete and one parent/guardian has attended the meeting. The meetings for Canyon Crest Academy will take place during each programs pre-season meeting.

Independent Study PE

SDUHSD has revised the Independent Study Physical Education (ISPE) application process for 2011-12. The ISPE application process is now web based. Click here to visit the SDUHSD district website for more ISPE information and application.

If you need extra copies of the ISPE log, you can download and print just the ISPE log .

P.E. Credit / Athletics

To earn credit towards graduation for your participation in a sport, please visit the district website at www.sduhsd.net/parents_students. In order to be eligible, students must have passed the Personal Fitness Test. Students who did not pass or did not take this test for any reason will not be eligible for PE Credit/Athletics in the 2011-12 school year. The student can choose to take the test during the 2011-12 school year to be eligible for 2010-13. For more information on PE Credit/Athletics, click the following link:

Please note: CCA athletes will compete at the JV and Varsity level in the North County Conference - Valley League for the 2011-2012 school year. Boys / Girls Lacrosse will compete in the North County Conference - Avocado League.

Fall Sports: 8/15 to 11/11

Cross Country, Girls' Golf, Boys' Water Polo, Field Hockey, Girls' Tennis and Girls' Volleyball

Winter Sports: 11/12 to 2/17

Boys' Basketball, Girls' Basketball, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Soccer, Girls' Water Polo and Wrestling

Spring Sports: 2/18 to 5/18

Directions to Campus!

If you are coming to CCA for an Athletic event it is always best to park in the western most student lot and enter through the pedestrian gate to the fields and tennis courts.

From the 56 Freeway: Exit Carmel Valley Road. Turn North onto Carmel Valley Road. Go right on Edgewood Bend Court and enter school through the back gate. Or proceed to Village Center Loop Road and go right. Then turn right into the front of the school.
