All Call-November 12, 2009
This is Laurie Francis, Principal of Carmel Valley MS. Today, County Health notified us that one of our students recently contracted Pertussis, commonly known as “Whooping Cough.” The family appropriately sought medical care and the student is currently on antibiotic treatment and doing well. Whooping cough has presented itself in our community several times over the past few years, and it is important to know what the symptoms may be and how to proceed. We have posted two letters on our website, one in Spanish and one in English (click here to view English version and click here to view Spanish version) on our web site that convey facts regarding Whooping Cough. We also have hard copies available in our Administration office, if you would like one. Should you have any questions, please contact us, or you may contact Bruce Cochrane, Director of Pupil Services, at 760-753-6491, extension 5619.
Please note important dates: Progress Reports were sent home with your student on Tuesday, November 10th. You may also view grades online on AERIES. This Saturday, November 14th is an Academic Support Saturday from 8-10am. Your student can get help and complete assignments in all four core academic areas. If you are interested in having your child attend, please ask your student pick up a reservation form in the front office. Monday, November 16th is a Late Start Day. The staff and I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving week holiday beginning on November 23rd!
Finally, in an effort to keep our school running smoothly, we would appreciate your reviewing rules and policies in your child's student handbook. Specifically, our electronic devices policy on page 12 (which has information regarding cell phones) and our dress code policy on page 9.
Thank you and have a nice weekend.
