Winter Formal 2012 - "Soaring Over San Diego"

• Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and all students must be in the dance by 10:00 at the latest. All guests must enter the dance with their sponsoring student. There is no re-entry – if you leave the dance you will not be allowed to re-enter.

• The dance ends at 11:30 so be sure to have your ride, whether that is a limo or your parents, pick you up at 11:30 – not at 12:00 or 12:30.

• All in attendance, including guests, must bring a photo ID to be admitted to the dance.

• We do check all “party buses” and limousines for alcohol and other drugs when they arrive at the dance and will be using breathalyzers randomly. Please recognize that if these things are found in any vehicle, none of the students in that vehicle will be allowed to enter the dance so you need to be very confident and aware of the behavior of those with whom you are sharing limos and buses.

• Students (or non-students) who are not attending the dance may not remain on the buses or in limos on site during the dance.

• Only bring essentials into the dance. The check room is small and bringing bags and purses only delays the check in process because we search every bag. We strongly suggest you leave personal belongings in your vehicle.

• The dance will primarily be indoors but it is likely that you will be lined up outside while waiting for check in and again while you wait for rides after the dance. It’s also likely that it will be chilly on Saturday evening, so please plan your attire accordingly.

• Parents, while we are concerned with your student’s safety at the dance, we are also greatly concerned with their safety before they arrive and after they leave us. Please speak to your student about making good choices both before and after the dance. We’ve had increasing numbers of students who’ve had their evenings ruined by fly by night limo companies who fail to live up to their obligations to our students by abandoning them at dances, arriving very late, or by allowing students to make poor choices while on their vehicles. Parents, I strongly encourage you to speak directly to your limo drivers to let them know your expectations for the evening and be sure to get a contact number should you need to reach them.
