What is the School Site Council?
The School Site Council is an elected group of parents, teachers, students and classified staff working together to improve our school site's educational programs.

School Site Councils were developed in response to California law which required them to allocate and monitor the school improvement grant, as well as to develop and oversee the school plan.

At Torrey Pines, the Site Council is also responsible for keeping abreast of legislative changes affecting education and advising the administration on important campus issues.

Site Council components include:

  • Community information, website and the Torrey Pines newsletter

  • Student support services

  • Educational technology

  • Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID)

  • Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

  • English Language Development (ELD) Program

  • Staff development

Guiding Philosophy:
Our Site Council is guided by our Single Plan for Student Achievement. This plan is developed based on needs assessed through data collection and analysis and focuses on direct improvements on student achievement. To better understand the future of Torrey Pines, read the Single Plan for Student Achievement for yourself.

How can you participate?
Parent elections are held annually at Back to School Night. However, you need not be an elected member to participate--anyone interested may attend Site Council meetings. for further information contact Assistant Principal Garry Thornton
